Dole Europe has the announced the appointment of Mattias Engberg as its new chief financial officer, based in Paris.
Responsible for the company's Europe Finance, IT and Tax Teams departments, Mr Engberg will report directly to Dole Europe president Jean-Christophe Juilliard.
Mr Engberg originally joined Dole in 2001 as CFO of Saba in Sweden, where he helped simplify and streamline the organisation.
He then moved to Dole Corporate in the US in 2006 as director of business analysis, and since September 2007 he has held the position of vice-president for strategic planning at Dole Latin America.
He has an MBA in International General Management from Rotterdam School of Management and 15 years post MBA experience in executive financial positions within several industries.
In a statement, Mr Engberg suggested he was looking forward to taking on the new challenge.
'The CFO's role is to support the business by making sure we get timely and accurate information that help us implement and fine-tune our strategy,' he said.
'To assure that the finance function adds value to our operations, we need to focus on increasing information transparency, reducing complexity, improving quality, and reducing lead time in our financial processes.'
Mr Juilliard welcomed the appointment: 'We worked together in Sweden on the simplification of structure and processes. Such focus is still critical in Dole Europe's permanent effort to improve the efficiency of its supply chain.
He added: 'I know Mattias will be a leader in developing this spirit further throughout our organization and throughout the relation with our customers.'
Meanwhile, Frank Hoe has been named as Dole Europe's new chief information officer. Mr Hoe will oversee the implementation of the company's IT strategy across Europe.
He will report to Mr Engberg and will be located with the group's European IT team in Hamburg.
Mr Hoe has a degree in computer science and has 15 years' experience in the IT field, during which time he has been in IT executive roles in Europe and in the US for different companies including retailer groups (ALDI and Hertie) and the TüV Rheinland Group, a global provider of technical services.
