Leading Spanish fresh produce export company Difrusa Export, which specialises in shipments to eastern European countries, has this week become the newest associate of major Murcia-based export consortium Proexport.
The organisation’s president, Fernando Gomez, said the latest addition to Proexport’s membership would increase its representation in Murcia’s fresh produce sector, where the group’s associates already produce an estimated 1m tonnes of fruit and vegetables annually.
“Following several years with a presence in eastern Europe, we have begun a phase of expansion and consolidation of our commercial position in those countries,” said the company’s commercial director, Sebastián Aguilar, in a statement.
“To achieve this objective, we believe it is necessary that we become integrated into the most important regional association in the sector, Proexport.”
Difrusa Export, which markets fresh produce from Murcia as well as Almería and Huelva, is one of the region’s largest horticultural exporters to central and eastern Europe. The business sells over €50m worth of products every year, including tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, melons, broccoli, watermelon, citrus, stonefruit, berries and grapes.
