Spanish discounter Dia has reiterated its plan to open 425 stores this year, investing approximately €350m, according to business paper Cinco Días and reported by Planet Retail.
Around one-third of this number has been earmarked for Spain where the discounter plans to add 100 new outlets, the publication said.
In Madrid, Dia is currently testing a new concept dubbed 'Dia Fresh', offering a range focused on fruit and vegetables and other freshproducts, Planet Retail added.
'We think it’s a good idea, but we will need time to see if the format is viable,' chief executive Ricardo Currás said.
