Post-harvest solutions provider Decco has opened a new factory in Brazil that will serve as a platform for supplying the company’s customers in Mercosur markets.
The new facility is the only one in the country able to emulsify polyethylene and shellac waxes used in Decco’s wax coatings, meeting the legal requirements of both the domestic and export markets.
An inauguration ceremony was held at the end of October and attended by government officials, the local mayor and representatives from local universities.
Having invested heavily in developing the Latin American markets, Decco has made significant inroads in the region, both in sales and market share.
The company said the recent inauguration of the plant in Brazil highlights the importance of emerging countries in its overall growth strategy. It aims to help markets with little or no post-harvest treatment philosophies to adopt this technology in order to increase their competitiveness and profitability.
“Investing in Brazil is a very interesting development for Decco in a key region for the growth of the company,” said François Girin, president and CEO of Decco Worldwide.
