Table grape exports from Murcia in Spain have grown 61 per cent in the past ten years, according to a new report from the the services of Agricultural Associations of the Agricultural Regional Offices of the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the stats, the region exported some 74,286 tonnes of table grapes in 2011, equivalent to 68 per cent of its total production last year, at a value of over €112m – 60 per cent of the value of national table grape exports, Murciaeconomia.com noted.
The UK and Germany are the leading markets for the fruit, representing 71 per cent of exports, with the Netherlands, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, South Africa, France, Sweden and Poland also taking on fruit.
