With supply lines to the south of the Mediterranean drying up, Germany's table grape importers have now turned their attention to key suppliers in southern Europe, with Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey all vying for a share of the market.
The infographic provided by the OEC below shows the market share of countries around the world, grouped by continent, that sold fresh table grapes to Germany in 2014.
As the data suggests, Germany has a fairly long list of minor table grape suppliers during the course of the year: countries like Israel, Australia, Morocco, Afghanistan, Cyprus, Peru and even China each command less than 1 per cent of the market in terms of sales.
