Dan Kass of Suntreat Packing & Shipping – a major independent grower-packer-marketer of California citrus, including Sumo Citrus mandarins–recently assumed the chairmanship of the California Citrus Quality Council (CCQC).
Kass has served on the CCQC board for more than a decade and is a 35-year veteran of the US citrus industry working for Blue Goose Growers of Florida, Dole Citrus and Wonderful Citrus.
For the last four years, Kass has served asSuntreat’s director of export-import sales and marketing.
The CCQC is primarily funded through the Citrus Research Board, a trade organisation whose mission is to assure a sustainablefuture forthe industry through promoting and investing in “sound” science.
The CCQC ensures that California citrus remains in compliance with all domestic and international regulatory standards by working closely with government agencies, international standard-setting organisations, the University of California, the California citrus industry and international trading partners.
