Damco has announced that it has moved to further professionalise its global ocean management by appointing experienced logistics manager Diederick de Vroet as its global head of ocean freight.
According to Damco, which represents the logistics arm of the AP Møller-Maersk group, Mr De Vroet will play a 'significant role' in building the structure of its global carrier management team.
'We are very happy to have added Diederick to the team and we are looking forward to work with him on further improving the process, productivity and quality of Damco's ocean-related products, proving that Damco is committed to investing in its global ocean products and services,' said Peter Kjaer Jensen, COO at Damco.
Prior to joining Damco, Mr De Vroet worked for more than 20 years with Kuehne and Nagel International, where he was responsible for the ocean freight operations as well as sales and airfreight during different management positions throughout Europe and Asia.
'Forwarding is not rocket science,' noted Mr De Vroet. 'With a pragmatic approach, logical thinking, focus on results, healthy interest in business development, good communication and a passion to improve, anything is possible.
'I am very pleased to be part of Damco and look forward to working with the impressive team of industry professionals,' he added. 'Damco has already proven its seriousness in delivering world class services to its customers. The opportunity to contribute to the company's commitment to leading global freight forwarding organisation is extremely exciting and motivating for me.'
