Danish logistics group Damco has moved to hire Mauro Suazo as its new head of reefer logistics business development for North America, with the appointment aimed at accelerating the capabilities of companies moving fresh produce and protein in and of the region.
In his role, Mr Suazo will drive Damco's solution design for its refrigerated supply chain systems across North America, and will be a key leader globally in supporting the group's fresh produce customers.
'Damco is rapidly developing business expertise into the refrigerated supply chain development arena,' said Jens Wessel, vice-president of Damco sales in North America. 'This hire is a reflection of our ambition to continue to develop customer-centric solutions that will sustain and develop our customers' competitiveness in the long-run.'
While Mr Suazo will initially focus on customers within the fresh produce industry, he will also collaborate with business leaders, port authorities and global partners to create new markets and look for competitive advantages for customers.
'Bringing onboard Mr Suazo further consolidates Damco's position as the leading global end-to-end supply chain specialist in reefer logistics, connecting retailers and other buyers of fresh and frozen produce, reducing cost and lead-time to market,' said Ole Schack Petersen, global head of reefer logistics for Damco.
