Logistics provider Damco Europe has hired Charles van der Steene as its new chief operations officer for the region, in a move that it says places an even higher premium on service delivery and operational excellence.
In his new position, Mr van der Steene will play a 'significant role' in helping make Damco a leading logistics provider, the group noted, with a primary focus on improving customers' global supply chains by capitalising on Damco's experiences and expertise in logistics and freight forwarding products.
'We have been very thorough in identifying the right person, as we understand the implications it has on our customers,' said Kim Hedegaard Sørenson, CEO of Damco Europe. 'This is yet another step we are taking to ensure our standing in the market as a tough competitor. Mr van der Steene, who will be located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, added: 'Damco has proven to be serious about delivering world class services to its customers.
