Ole Schack-Petersen, director of global reefer logistics at international service provider Damco, is to take up a new role with sister company Maersk Line, Eurofruit can reveal.
With Damco set to relocate its headquarters from the Danish capital Copenhagen to The Hague in the Netherlands by the end of March, the firm recently announced a number of changes to its senior management structure relating to the move.
Schack-Petersen will take up a new role at the container shipping specialist from the beginning of April, becoming global head of its commercial reefer management business.
"My new role will be to spearhead the Maersk Line reefer commercial portfolio, building robust value propositions for its customers while generating sustainable growth and consistent positive results by increasing the Maersk Line reefer top line," he explained.
A former chief executive of Stockholm-based perishable logistics provider LCL Group, Petersen joined the AP Møller Mærsk group in April 2009 to head up its newly created Maersk Logistics division, which was later rebranded as Damco.
Around 150 jobs are expected to be affected by the relocation, which is aimed at trimming costs to make Damco more competitive and bringing it closer to the centre of the European logistics market.
"In The Hague, we will be closer to many of our customers, our main air and sea carriers, Europe’s biggest transportation hubs, as well as our competition and the kind of additional international logistics experience we’ll be looking to hire as we continue to grow," commented Damco's chief executive, Rolf Habben-Jansen.
