Damco, the combined brand of A.P. Møller-Maersk's logistics activities, has announced that it has hired Todd Renehan as its new chief commercial officer for North America.

Mr Renehan has joined the group from Ryder System, where he most recently held the position of executive vice-president and head of sales and marketing. The move ends a 25-year association with Ryder, where he held positions in sales, general management, asset management and operations.

'It has been important for us to find the right person with the right experience and strength to lead our sales efforts to a new level,' said Jenny Hancock, regional manager for Damco in North America. 'We are very pleased that Todd can commence with immediate effect.'

According to Mr Renehan, the draw of a globally recognised organisation was to exciting an opportunity to turn down.

'The organisation's truly global footprint with colleagues and offices on the ground in virtually every corner of the world, its passion for customers, dedicated colleagues, continuous focus on improving service delivery, and commitment to differentiation in the marketplace made Damco a truly exciting opportunity for me,' he said.

'With an open and inquisitive approach, my initial focus will be on learning all I can about the industry. I look forward to communicating with the Damco team to understand the business, communicating with customers to understand their needs, and striving to match those needs with the solutions Damco offers to grow our business and create a positive impact for our customers.'
