Profits climbed by 16 per cent at Costco through the fourth quarter of the year, as the warehouse club operator enjoyed higher revenues from membership fees and international operations when compared with the same period of 2009.

Costco earned US$432m through the quarter ended 29 August, up from US$374m last year, with revenue climbing 8 per cent to US$24.13bn.

While revenue from stores pen at least one year jumped 6 per cent year-on-year, that same figure increased by 14 per cent for international sales.

For the full year, Costco's net income increased by 19 per cent to US$1.3bn compared with US$1.09bn during the previous year, while annual revenue rose 9.1 per cent to US$78bn.
