Corbana estimates for the 2013 season have pegged Costa Rica's 2013 banana exports at around 106m, 18.14kg cases, the same number as 2011 and down slightly from the 107m boxes shipped overseas in 2012.
While Corbana is yet to put all data together for the year, exports are thought to have ranged between US$820m and US$823m, similar to 2012's US$822.7m, El Economista reported.
Corbana CEO Jorge Sauma said that the stagnation of exports was the result of lower demand from international markets, particularly in Europe.
