Costa Rican banana corporation Corbana has teamed up with Acorbat to hold a joint event for the global banana industry for the first time.
Corbana’s VI International Banana Congress and the XXI International Meeting of Acorbat – the Association for Cooperation and Comprehensive Musaceas (Banana and Plantain) Development – will both take place on 19-22 April 2016 in Florida and is expected to attract some 800 international delegates.
“For five days, this important meeting will bring together representatives from the five continents, including an international panel of experts, who will share the latest research findings and present the latest trends in the international banana market,” the associations said in a joint press release.
The event will include keynote presentations, panel discussions and short lectures on the main challenges in the banana industry, covering topics such as environmental management, logistics, diseases, marketing and innovation.
“Panama Disease will be one of the key topics covered at the event and delegates will have the opportunity to take part in a forum made up of the main international banana organisations to hear about the latest advances in the fight against this disease,” Corbana’s general manager Jorge Sauma told Fruitnet.
