Peter Marks, CEO of grocery retailer The Co-operative Group, has revealed this week that the UK-based company is to expand over the next three years with the launch of 300 new outlets.
The stores will be built or acquired, Mr Marks said, and will begin opening from next year when the integration of Somerfield into the Co-operative group is set to be completed.
Mr Marks told Planet Retail that the purchase of Somerfield represented a 'wonderful acquisition', and noted that the group would continue to look out for future purchases.
'There's two ways businesses can go: backwards or forwards, so we have to continue to go forward with the same momentum as the past three years,' he explained.
