The Port of Rotterdam Authority has announced that its chief operating officer André Toet is to resign from his position on 1 January 2011, ending his three-year association with the port.
According to a press release, Mr Toet made a decision to stand down in October, after the supervisory board indicated that it could not see him as the future CEO of the Port Authority when Hans Smits' appointment comes to an end in two years' time.
In his role, Mr Toet has been responsible for cost control with regards to the construction and maintenance of infrastructure, improving accessibility, and developing the port community system and resources to guide shipping.
On the recommendation of the supervisory board, shareholders have moved to appoint Thessa Menssen as the new COO, a position she will take up on 1 January.
