Greenyard has reported on growth in sales for the opening quarter of the fiscal year. Sales climbed 2.3 per cent on a like-for-like basis, and 1.9 per cent on a reported basis, to €1.17bn.
The group's fresh segment saw 'robust volumes in the integrated customer model', the company said, growing 1.7 per cent on a like-for-like basis, or 1.2 per cent on a reported basis, to €970.2m – up from €959m in the same quarter of last year.
The long fresh segment grew by 5.4 per cent on the first quarter of last year, from €190.3m to €200.6m. This was boosted by the improving foodservice and food industry customer segments, Greenyard said, which had picked up since the release of many Covid-19 related lockdown measures.
'The further growth this year, which is in line with our expected growth rate, proves that Greenyard continues its growth path starting from last year’s significant step-up,' the group noted.
