The Port of Los Angeles has released its January 2013 cargo volumes, showing that overall numbers decreased 4.25 per cent when compared with January last year.
According to the port authority, the decrease was the result of a vessel service that shifted out of the Port of Los Angeles for the period.
Imports dropped 5.32 per cent, from 356,394 Twenty-Foot Equivalent (TEU) containers in January 2012 to 337,428 TEUs, while exports fell 5.44 per cent, from 168,427 TEUs to 159,257 TEUs this year.
Combined, total loaded imports and exports for January decreased 5.36 per cent, from 524,821 TEUs to 496,685 TEUs.
