US Port of Los Angeles

In the US, the Port of Los Angeles has reported on a successful June and first half of the year, with container volumes on the up.

Total loaded imports and exports at the port during June increased 6.3 per cent year-on-year, from 497,031 TEUs to 528,348 TEUs, while overall June volumes jumped 8.75 per cent to 696,847 TEUs when factoring in empties.

Imports increased by 6 per cent, from 333,894 TEUs in June 2011 to 353,390 TEUs, while exports climbed 6.9 per cent from 163,137 TEUs to 174,418 TEUs this year.

For the first six months of 2012, overall container volumes climbed by 6.45 per cent from 3.8m TEUs to just over 4m TEUs
