Dacian Ciolos European Fruit Summit Macfrut

Macfrut 2011 is shaping up to be one of the premier events in the fresh produce industry calendar this year after a number of high-profile players from the world of agricultural politics confirmed their participation in the trade fair, which now incorporates the annual conference event the European Fruit Summit.

Billed as an opportunity to 'reflect' upon recent developments in the global, European and Italian fresh produce businesses as well as the economy at large, the exhibition takes place on 5-7 October 2011, with the conference itself held on 4 October.

As well as a number of key industry players due to take part in the European Fruit Summit, the event's organisers Cesena Fiera have also confirmed the participation of EU Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos, who will deliver the opening speech at the meeting.

Speakers from across the international fresh produce trade, including key industry players from New Zealand, China, Russia, the Netherlands and Spain, will offer their thoughts on the state of the European fresh produce business.

Meanwhile, EU Agriculture committee chairman Paolo De Castro is due to attend Macfrut itself, as are former EC president and former Italian prime minister Romano Prodi, Italy's European affairs minister Anna Maria Bernini and its health minister Ferruccio Fazio.

This year's Macfrut, the 28th exhibition in the event's history, brings together buyers, exporters, producers, distributors and service providers from across the Mediterranean, providing a forum in which they can meet and do business.
