French apple shipper Cofruid’Oc Méditerranée hopes to trial sales of its Gala and Cripps Red Joya varieties in Asia this season.
The firm, which already supplies the Asian market with its Pink Lady and Tasty Granny brands, wants to consolidate its sales in the region and expand its offer.
“We targeted Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia last year, and hope to develop exports to Hong Kong in future,” commercial director Philippe Jean told Fruitnet.
“We are establishing ourselves as Granny Smith specialists in this region with our premium brand Tasty Granny, and we are preparing promotional material for the coming season,” he added.
“As for Pink Lady, we are already one of the main European exports to South East Asia, and prospects to develop sales of this variety in this region are very promising.
“We pledge to deliver these products with good shelf life, and to only supply those that conform to market demand in terms of taste and appearance,” he said.
