Californian table grape grower-packer-shipper Columbine Vineyards opened its new state-of-the-art cold storage facility this week.
The fourth-generation family-owned company held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the 204,200ft2 facility in the San Joaquin Valley.
“Adding this facility into our organisation will provide us with the capacity to receive and ship more than 200,000 boxes a day,' said president Martin Caratan in a company statement. 'The design expands Columbine Vineyards' ability to preserve the superb taste, freshness and nutritional value of our high quality grapes.'
Caratan said the energy efficient facility will support the growth of the company, combining traditional agricultre with advanced technology to ensure Columbine Vineyards is equipped with the most efficient grape preservation operations.
