Holger Köhnken

Leading German fresh produce company Cobana Fruchtring has announced the passing of its managing director Holger Köhnken, who died unexpectedly in his hometown of Bremen on 3 May.

Mr Köhnken, who had previously worked at Atlanta AG which he joined in 1986, moved to Cobana Fruchtring's Hamburg office in 2005 before being appointed managing director last year.

'With the loss of Mr Köhnken we lose an outstanding and highly esteemed personality within German and international fruit trading,' the group said in a statement. 'Holger Köhnken was highly regarded by all for his excellent expertise, his fairness and his kind disposition.

'It is inconceivable to us that our colleagues Holger Köhnken is no longer with us,' the statement continued. 'We remain deeply grateful for the memories and the time we shared with a good friend.'

Mr Köhnken's funeral will take place on Thursday 14 May, the group added.
