Innovative system allows for a more constant concentration of fungicides, disinfectants and food additives.

Post-harvest specialist Citrosol will showcase its innovative CATsystem, a smart consumption system designed to ensure the effectiveness of post-harvest treatments, at next month’s Fruit Attraction trade fair.

Citrosol has created an exclusive area to demonstrate the benefits of the CATsystem

CATsystem is the latest innovation to come out of Citrosol’s “precision postharvest” concept, introduced in 2010 with the launch of Citrosol Zero Spillage. It allows the concentration of fungicides, disinfectants and food additives to be kept constant in the post-harvest treatment broths, within a defined range of values. It maintains constant fungicide concentrations, carrying out analysis and corrections of the treatment broth in real time to optimise control of the decaying process. It also prevents the generation of resistance, which is essential, especially when a single active ingredient is used.

Citrosol says there is no similar system on the market, describing CATsystem as “a disruptive innovation in the application of post-harvest treatments”. The system can detect problems such as the malfunction of the dispenser and human error of the operators, offering greater peace of mind to the customer as well as cost savings due to fewer losses and claims.

Citrosol has created an exclusive area within its stand to demonstrate the benefits of the CATsystem. Visitors will be able to learn first-hand about the advantages of this technology through striking infographics and demonstrations, and explore how the system addresses the problems of rot and food safety that often appear in plants. Experts from Citrosol’s R&D team, responsible for the development of this innovative technology, are also on hand during the fair to offer personalised technical advice and answer any questions that visitors may have about the system.

The CATsystem has also been entered for Fruit Attraction’s Innovation Hub Awards.

“Citrosol projects a promising future in countries with rapidly expanding fruit and vegetable production, which represent great potential for its sales in the coming years,” the company said. “Our technologies provide significant value not only in the global citrus market, but also in other crops, such as tropical fruits and stonefruit, sectors in which Citrosol has been developing solutions for many years.”
