Company presents the first Automatic Control System for in-line treatment at the III Post-harvest Seminar in Lima
More than 90 delegates from Peru’s main citrus-growing regions attended last months’ III International Post-harvest Seminar in Lima, organised by the Association of Citrus Producers of Peru (Procitrus) and Citrosol.
Experts including Dr Lorenzo Zacarías of the CSIC- Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology and agrifood consultant Paco Borrás discussed the post-harvest treatment of citrus and avocados.
The event was also an opportunity for Citrosol to present its CATsystem technology. CATsystem is a tool that allows fungicide concentrations to be kept constant, carrying out analyses and corrections of the treatment broth in real time, so that rot control will be optimised.
Citrosol described it as a disruptive system, noting that “to date there is no other equipment capable of analysing the concentrations of drencher broths in real time”.
“Thanks to this system, the incidence of rot is reduced and a more rational consumption of fungicides is guaranteed. This system will be a great contribution to Peruvian exporters since it will allow them to reach more distant markets with less losses,” Citrosol said.
The seminar covered topics including black spot in Peruvian mandarins; various aspects of post-harvest citrus management; the growing global demand for organic citrus treatments and the solutions in this field developed by Citrosol.
During the event, Citrosol’s Raúl Perelló also presented results of the company’s PlantSeal coatings, with organic certification and vegan V-label seal, which he said is far superior in controlling weight loss than other conventional coatings.
Concluding the symposium, Borrás gave a summary of the potential and opportunities of citrus and avocados from Peru worldwide, and chaired a round table discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing Peruvian exports.
