French retailer Carrefour's India head Jean Noel Bironneau met India's commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma yesterday (May 24) to reportedly lobby for allowing foreign direct investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail, reports The Hindu.
Carrefour has two stores in India and is planning four more in Agra, Pune, Bangalore and Meerut, the article said.
Last year the Indian government halted long-awaited foreign retail reforms amid popular unrest.
