Exports of table grapes from Chile have reached 96,197 tonnes up to week 2 of 2011 (16 January), down by 8.56 per cent on the same period last year, according to figures from the Chilean Exporters Association (Asoex), reported by SimFRUIT.
Of that total, 68,115 tonnes and 19,923 tonnes were shipped to the US East Coast and West Coast respectively.
The remainder of the volume was absorbed by Asia (which received 2,845 tonnes), Latin America (with 2,842 tonnes), Europe (1,542 tonnes) and Canada (929 tonnes), SimFRUIT said.
Variety-wise, the export crop comprised mainly Flame Seedless, Sugraone and Thompson Seedless.
