Chilean Summerkiwi exports are predicted to double this year thanks to some orchards entering into full commercial bearing for the first time.
The Chilean Summerkiwi Committee told Fruitnet that volume is forecast to reach 350,000 (10kg) cartons this year, in comparison to 180,000 cartons in 2011.
The season, which lasts just nine weeks, is running slightly earlier than last year, with volume set to be available from week nine onwards.
The committee plans to continue broadening its export market reach during 2012, particularly in Asia where the early variety is becoming increasingly recognised for its good eating quality.
Repeat promotional activities are planned for Korea, Japan and China, the organisation revealed.
The full report will be published in the April issue of Asiafruit Magazine.
