Chilean group Decofrut has announced the relaunch of the updated Expordata Full Cargo website, the only site containing official figures from the Chilean fruit industry provided by the Chilean Fresh Fruit Association (ASOEX).
The information tool, provided by Decofrut, contains fruit statistics for all markets from the 2001/02 season to the present day, displaying data by season, week, variety, origin or destination port, country, tonnes or boxes, importer or exporter.
The new site is 'even easier and more effective to use', according to Decofrut, with a template feature allowing the user to customise the information displayed and to download it into an Excel spreadsheet.
'The global economy is facing difficult times and importers as well as distributors of Chilean fresh fruit need to have access to first-hand information to better run their businesses and address their logistics and transport needs,' said Decofrut president Manuel Jose Alcaino. 'Expordata Full Cargo provides critical and reliable market information regarding what fresh fruit has been shipped and when, allowing companies to plan their strategy in advance.'
The site, which is updated daily whenever a land, sea or air departure takes place, is seen as crucial to a number of European importers.
'We use it all the time – it's an extremely valuable tool providing the latest available shipping information in a sophisticated format,' said Geoff Green of Capespan in Belgium. 'It's a very good platform allowing us to keep track of fruit shipments.'
This sentiment was echoed by Raquel Hernandez of A. Gomez Ltd in the UK, who said: 'The information database has an incredible amount of data benefiting European handlers, and this tool helps us to provide our management and decision makers with timely and accurate information on the Chilean produce market.'
An annual subscription to the service includes three users at a cost of US$1,550.
