Hamburg Süd has christened a container ship in Chile for the first time, with the Cap Graham one of a series of three identical 4,294 TEU charter vessels of Norddeutchse Reederei H. Schuldt.
The ship, which boasts a capacity of 53,480 tdw and measure 264m in length, was christened at a ceremony in Valparaiso on 9 January.
Along with its sister ships Cap Gilbert and Cap Gregory, as well as Hamburg Süd's Bahia class vessels, the Cap Graham will sail in Sling 1 of the Hamburg Süd liner service between Asia and South America's west coast.
Sponsorship for the Cap Graham comes from Elizabeth McPherson Cisternas, corporate executive vice-president of logistics and marketing services for Codelco Chile.
