César Campaña of Agrícola Campaña has won the 2012 Mexican Produce Exporter of the Year award, according to a report by Produce Business magazine.

Campaña was awarded in recognition of his distinguished accomplishments in furthering the trade of fresh produce between Mexico and the US and Canada.

The award was presented by Ken Whitacre, publisher and editorial director of Produce Business, at last week’s America Trades Produce (ATP) conference in Nogales, Arizona.

As well as leading his own company, Campaña is involved in several other Mexican produce associations, namely the Mexican Eggplant Promotion Board, the Confederation of Agricultural Associations of the State of Sinaloa (Caades) and the Association of Mexican Protected Horticulture (Amhpac).

Campaña was reportedly overwhelmingly nominated by members of the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas and the Texas Produce Association – the joint organisers of the ATP conference.
