Cencosud has reported on its full-year results for 2010, with net income coming in 23.8 per cent higher on the previous year as a result of higher sales across its different store formats.

According to a report by just-food.com, the Chilean group, which also has operations in Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Colombia, saw net income climb to CLP306.4bn (US$630m) through the 12-month period.

Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) jumped to a record CLP527.4bn (US$1.1bn), an increase of 33 per cent year-on-year, with EBITDA margin hitting 8.5 per cent when compared with 7.2 per cent in 2009.

The retailer reported that it had posted revenues of CLP6.19tn (US$12.6bn) in 2010, with supermarket operations booming in particular, accounting for over 71 per cent of the group's net revenues.
