French research centre CTIFL and association of producer organisations AOP Cerafel are organising the International Cauliflower Congress in Saint-Pol-de-Léon, Brittany, on 10-11 December.
The congress, which is being held in partnership with regional experimental stations CATE and SECL-Terre d’essais, centres around the question of what is at stake for European cauliflower production.
Brittany is the leading region for fresh vegetable production in France, as well as in Europe, ranking number one for cauliflower production, with 15,500ha, 1,150 growers and 135m heads sold. Around 65 per cent of the region's volumes are exported.
Experts involved in research, experimentation, production and marketing will discuss the main economic and technical developments in cauliflowers, and share the latest technological advances in breeding and in sustainable production techniques.
