Following January’s cold spell, Brittany has since experienced milder and wetter conditions, leading to a rise in volumes of brassicas from the French region.
“Harvest volumes have increased rapidly over the past week, topping the seasonal average,” marketer Prince de Bretagne revealed in a statement. “The majority of varieties that had been lagging are now back up to speed and being harvested.”
Such volumes point to a more typical harvesting schedule, with volumes reaching approximately 100,000 boxes per day over the past week.
In addition, Prince de Bretagne states that there has been a big boost in the harvesting of organic cauliflowers.
At this week’s Fruit Logistica exhibition in Berlin, Prince de Bretagne will invite visitors to watch a virtual animation of the cauliflower harvest on the company’s stand.
