For the third quarter of 2008, French retail group Casino reported a sharp increase in net sales, which rose by 12.7 per cent to €7.2bn.
The company attributed the rise to sustained organic growth of 7.3 per cent and the full consolidation of Dutch retail company Super de Boer from 1 January 2008.
Domestically, Casino recorded organic sales growth of 5.3 per cent, thanks in part to its continuing expansion plan, as well as strong growth at its Franprix convenience stores, where sales grew by 12.1 per cent.
Internationally, the group recorded double-digit growth in South America (11.6 per cent) and in Asia (16.5 per cent).
