French retailer Carrefour is planning to increase its presence in Brazil and China next year, chief executive Georges Plassat has told the Financial Times.
Describing the countries as 'big, with many possibilities', Plassat noted that current growth rates in the two markets was 'insufficient', adding that a strategy was being formulated for increased growth.
Plassat also commented on the talks with its Turkish partner Sabanci to review operations in the country, explaining that the situation would be clarified in the coming weeks.
