In France, sales were roughly stable at €16.9bn, although recurring operating income soared 75.4 per cent to €482m.
There were also positives signs in Asia and Latin America, where sales climbed 2.7 per cent and 13.3 per cent to €3.4bn and €6.9bn respectively.
However, in other European markets, sales were down 4.6 per cent at constant exchange rates to €9.2bn, reflecting the 'persistently difficult economic environment in southern Europe', the group said.
