French retailer Carrefour has announced plans to support the consumption of domestically-produced fruit and vegetables in France, according to Linéaires.

This week, Carrefour has started to prioritise French seasonal produce, which will make up almost 90 per cent of seasonal fruit and vegetables in the retailer's hypermarkets and supermarkets.

Consumers will also be alerted to local produce through the use of French flags visible on the shelves.

In addition, Carrefour has revealed that, between 29 June and 2 July, it is offering a reduction of €3 to any consumer that spends €15 on fruit and vegetables.

The move follows the E.coli outbreak, which has caused sales of cucumbers and other vegetables, including French produce, to plummet in France.
