French retailer Carrefour last month reinforced its position on the Argentinian market with the acquisition of 129 EKI covenience stores, mostly located in Buenos Aires and the surrounding area.
According to analyst Planet Retail, the retailer now plans to invest some Ps300m (€53m) in the country during 2012.
Carrefour plans to utilise the capital to revamp existing stores and to convert the recently acquired EKI-Discount supermarket stores, 33 of which have already been reopened, according to local newspaper Lanación.
The retailer also intends to open four new supermarkets and nine hypermarkets in Argentina by the end of 2012.
