French retailer Carrefour has revealed its intention to launch a new line of low-priced products, according to French paper La Tribune.
The new line, which echoes UK-based Tesco’s recently launched Tesco Value range, will reportedly come in simple, white packaging and be known internally under the brand name Carrefour Value.
The launch is a reaction to the increasing popularity of discount retailers, with many shoppers perceiving Carrefour as a more expensive, higher quality chain and switching to discounters out of budgetary concerns.
