Carrefour Brazil

French retailer Carrefour donated approximately 4,953 tonnes of food, the equivalent of around 10m meals, to food banks around the world between the months of October and December last year.

The donations were part of Carrefour’s third international Food Bank collection campaign coordinated by the Carrefour Foundation, with support from by the European Food Bank Federation and the Global FoodBanking Network.

Carrefour organises collections of products taken off the shelves, either due to labelling errors, packaging defects or because they are nearing their expiry date.

Over 1,400 Carrefour employees reportedly volunteered to help Food Bank workers in more than 2,217 stores across ten countries, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, France, Italy, Poland, Romania, China and Taiwan.
