French retailer Carrefour has created a partnership with Le Petit Producteur to offer products grown close to its stores, as it continues its local drive.
The Petit Producteur, made up of nearly 300 growers, will supply Carrefour with high quality, seasonal fruits and vegetables picked ripe, while offering its producers a decent and recurring revenue stream, according to La Tribune.
In order to strengthen the link between producers and consumers, Le Petit Producteur has created a collective brand called 'Direct Producteur', while the products will bear a photo of the local producer.
The operation has already been trialled in Aix-en-Provence and Orange, and will be extended this week to Vannes and Quimper, in Brittany.
