The Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC), one of the main exporters and employers in the country, has announced the launch of a banana that is 100 per cent Cameroonian: Makossa Banana.
The CDC has organised the production, harvest and distribution of this new banana brand, with the first bananas becoming available on the European market at the beginning of 2010.
The Makossa Banana is a strong sign of the desire of the government to help Cameroonian producers remain independent and grow internationally, it was declared in a press release.
The statement continued: “This new brand will give producers direct access to the market and allow them to defend their own production.”
