California, US, fruit grower-packer-shipper Fruit Patch has named Bill Byers as its new chief operating officer/chief financial officer, reports US produce publication The Packer.
Mr Byers, who has over 30 years' experience in the food industry, replaces Doug Reader and will take up the post on November 21.
Formerly CFO for Foundation Partners Group, Tampa, Florida, Mr Byers worked with Fruit Patch in 2009 and 2010, and served three years on the Fruit Patch board of directors.
'I'm excited about being here,' Mr Byers told The Packer. 'My intention is to continue to.. grow this business.'
Wil Garland, Fruit Patch board of directors chairman, welcomed Mr Byers' appointment. 'Bill is well known to our growers and the Fruit Patch staff, so I couldn't ask for a better replacement for Doug.'
Mr Byers will be actively involved in sales and marketing, Mr Garland added.
Fruit Patch is this year celebrating 35 years as a grower-packer-shipper of Californian stonefruit, grapes, pomegranates and citrus.
