California-based company Gourmet Trading has revealed it is preparing for an early start to the new blueberry season, with packing expected to be underway in the second half of April and sales dovetailing nicely with late Chilean supply.
'The season is set to begin three weeks earlier than previous years due to great weather in California,' said marketing director Julia Inestroza.
'With the season starting so early we hope to satisfy the markets high demand for blueberries right after the Chilean season.'
From now until the end of June, Gourmet Trading said it expected promotable volumes of fresh blueberries from its California farm.
The product will be offered in a range of pack sizes for retail, foodservice, wholesale and export.
