Nearly 2,200 industry members from across the fresh produce supply chain attended Produce Marketing Association’s (PMA) Fruittrade Latin America, held 11-12 November in Santiago, Chile, to build connections, discover trends and exchange innovative ideas.
The event, taking place for the second time, attracted a total of 105 exhibitors, with an expo 20 per cent larger than in 2014.
More than 55 speakers contributed to the educational programmes offered at the event. Sessions focused on some of the industry’s top issues including global retail markets, merchandising through packaging, Peru as a competitor and opportunity, attracting talent through technology and global trade.
“The education session was a great opportunity to learn from world leaders about the different challenges in the containerisation of reefer cargo in the world and in particular Chile,” said Francisco Labarca, managing director of Global Reefers. “This event is a unique opportunity, now close to where we live and work, to learn more about our fascinating industry.”
During the Business Roundtable, buyers from Brazil, UK, USA, the Netherlands and other countries had the opportunity to meet with producers, exporters and even suppliers from Latin America. The unique face to face networking experienced served as a great connection tool for buyers and sellers to develop essential and long lasting business relationships.
