Representatives of Brazil's fresh produce industry are looking back with pride at what they have deemed a highly successful Fruit Logistica 2010 in Berlin, the eighth time that the country has participated at the event.
The country occupied an area of 300m2 at the event, which took place on 3-5 February 2010 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds in Germany, overseeing the introduction of a number of new products as well as the completion of a number of deals.
According to IBRAF, around 1,000 new contracts were signed with representatives of traditional importing markets such as the UK, Germnay, the Netherlands and Portugal, while new markets were also opened with possible partnerships for countries including Russia, the UAE and Jordan.
'It was an excellent fair, producing good results for both the companies who usually take part, as well as those doing so for the first time,' said Valeska de Oliveira, executive director at IBRAF. 'The exhibitors were pleased at having been able to show off Brazil's potential.
'This year, we also intorduced new products, such as the Silver banana and Red Niagara grape, which were enthusiastically received by the visiting public,' Mr Oliveira added. 'We also received inquiries about these varieties and very positive feedback about their unique tastes.'
