Total Produce is on the verge of this year's Brazilian melon season, which runs from September and is supplemented in January by fruit from Honduras, followed by Costa Rica and Panama.
“Brazil will start exporting YHD, Piel de Sapo, Galia, Cantaloupe, and Quetzali / seedless watermelons from the second week of September (week 37),” Tjeerd Hoekstra, commercial manager at Total Produce BV and the man responsible for the melon programme, explains. “Timing is key, so we can be found working on our programmes almost all year round in order to meet our client’s needs in a structured fashion.”
The group confirmed that the overlap with the Spanish season would be a lot shorter than last season.
