Value of shipments increased by 37 per cent in 2024/25 according to Comex Stat
Brazilian orange juice exports grew by 37 per cent in value, despite falling 23 per cent in volume in 2024/25, according to data from Comex Stat. The figures reflect the reduced supply of oranges and limited domestic juice stocks.
As reported by the Centre for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (Cepea), Brazil exported 448,500 tonnes of orange juice, converted into FCOJ 66 Brix, between July and December 2024, the lowest figure since Comex Stat started in 1997. The corresponding value was US$1.96bn.
CitrusBR, the Brazilian Association of Citrus Exporters, noted that the volume shipped in early 2025 may be lower than in the previous year due to it being low season in São Paulo, which restricts juice availability. In addition, international demand is low due to high global orange juice prices.
In the São Paulo citrus belt, the fourth flowering slightly increased supply at the end of January, although the quality of the fruit was below expectations. Cepea said companies are buying fruit on the spot market to offset the juice shortage.
The European Union remains the main destination for Brazilian exports, accounting for 55 per cent of revenues in the second half of 2024. The US is second with 35 per cent, according to Comex Stat.
